Whether it’s inspecting lift stations, or repairing a broken water main, your work will make a meaningful difference — and every day will offer something new.  Our technician level I position is entry-level, and we are looking for people who are interested in learning new skills and open to new opportunities! We offer hands-on training to help you develop the skills you need to succeed and advance in your career.    Work Location: Leon A Wurl Service Center (150 Bonnell Ave, Erie, CO 80516)   This position is 100% in-person and not eligible for remote work    Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00AM – 3:30PM  Employee must be able to work on-call schedule as assigned and outside of normal working hours.    Posting Dates: 08/07/26 - 08/23/26     **All incomplete applications will be withdrawn from the process once the posting closes.     Accommodations   To review the full job description(s), including a full list of duties and physical & environmental factors, visit our Job Description page here.      If you require reasonable modification to complete a job application, pre-employment testing, or a job interview or to otherwise participate in the hiring process, please contact Risk Management and Recruitment at RiskManagement@erieco.gov and Recruitment@erieco.gov.        Hourly Pay Rate by Level      Distribution & Collection Maintenance Technician I      Hiring Range        $23.15/hr - $26.73/hr        Full Range        $23.15/hr - $30.32/hr      Duties and Responsibilities Essential   Assists, performs and/or directs a variety of routine to complex maintenance and construction activities to include sanitary sewer jetting, manhole maintenance and inspection, hydrant flushing and maintenance, repair water, sewer, and storm lines, valve exercising and maintenance, PRV inspections and maintenance, monitoring lift stations, and CCTV inspections of the utility system.  Installs and maintains a variety of specialized and complex equipment related to distribution, collection, and performs light mechanical repair and maintenance.   Operates heavy and light duty equipment to perform related maintenance and construction assignments.  Performs a variety of heavy laboring activities including the use of hand tools, light power equipment and heavy construction and maintenance equipment.   Performs or inspects distribution, collection and works with Town inspectors as needed.   Performs snow removal activities either by hand, small equipment or heavy equipment as assigned.     Administrative and Customer Service  Performs data entry of information, maintenance logs and other data in spreadsheets and related software.   Responds to customers and contractors inquiries and complaints.   Prepares necessary records and reports.     Safety  Performs a variety of duties that requires considerable knowledge of the use and wear of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  Performs routine safety checks of equipment and minor maintenance activities on vehicles and equipment and maintains records of activities.   Maintains a safe working environment to include working in traffic and congested areas, working in ditches and confined spaces and all work environments.   Assists in the cleaning and organization of shop area.     Operations & Maintenance Support  Assisting Meters with reading and maintenance, service orders, conducting turn-offs and turn-ons of residential and commercial water services.  Assisting Streets with maintenance of roadways and signage.  Assisting Locates with utility locates.  Assisting in Town events preparation, operation and break down.  Qualifications   Education    Experience    Certifications/Licenses/  Registrations   D&C Maintenance Technician I    High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required   One (1) year of laboring, heavy maintenance, equipment operations or other experience preferred  Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record required   Colorado Commercial Driver's License Class B required within one (1) year.  Confined Space Certification within one (1) year.      Pre-employment screenings include:  Interview Process  Reference checks    Background checks include:   National and County Criminal Scan, Sex-Offender Registry check and Motor Vehicle Report through DMV   DOT 5 Panel Expanded Drug Test   Commercial Driver's License Information System (CDLIS) Check    Town of Erie Benefits:   The Town of Erie offers a comprehensive benefit package and pays a major portion of the employee premium to make these benefits more affordable for you.
