If you are a Lab Technician professional looking for an opportunity to grow your career, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you. In this role, you will support quality and manufacturing excellence at our Urick Foundry by performing laboratory testing and inspection activities that help ensure metal melting, pouring, and sand-making processes remain in control. You will conduct material testing, support certification requirements, maintain laboratory equipment, and collaborate with manufacturing teams to help deliver quality products that meet customer and operational standards.  Hours are 10pm-6am.

 

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Perform metal and sand testing to verify process control and product quality requirements.
  • Conduct incoming material testing and verify material certifications against applicable specifications.
  • Prepare customer certifications, metallography reports, laboratory reports, and related test documentation.
  • Set up and perform resonant frequency testing, including sample evaluation and verification activities.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, diagrams, and work instructions to support quality and inspection decisions.
  • Maintain laboratory and testing equipment through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure laboratory procedures and work instructions remain accurate, current, and aligned with operational requirements while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform laboratory testing and inspection activities in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document test results and findings.
  • Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Additional education or technical training in chemistry, metallurgy, materials science, laboratory technology, or a related field.
  • Laboratory experience in a manufacturing, foundry, metal casting, or quality environment.
  • Training or experience in sand testing, spectrometer operation, metallography, and resonant frequency testing.
  • Experience reviewing material certifications and preparing laboratory reports.
  • Training or experience using LECO equipment and other laboratory testing instruments.
