Job DetailsJob Location: Answers in Genesis HQ - Erlanger, KY 41018Position Type: Full TimeJob Category: OperationsThe Lead Housekeeper (LH) works closely with the Manager of Headquarters Facilities (MHF) overseeing all housekeeping operations to ensure the highest quality of cleanliness at the Answers Academy and Answers in Genesis International Headquarters. This position must be able to lead and develop the entire housekeeping staff, coordinate and monitor assigned tasks and/or duties utilizing available staff and volunteers. The LH will accomplish tasks relating to the ongoing operations, predictable upkeep, and preventative cleaning scheduled for the property. They must possess the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) and students in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining pleasant, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important, and they must work independently with little or no supervision. Oversee and promote the spiritual, personal, and professional development of all team members being led. Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and team-building skills with staff, peers and across departments. Ensure and maintain cleanliness, service and product quality standards of restrooms, offices/conference rooms, etc. in accordance with federal, local and ministry health, sanitation, and safety standards Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work, and work with the MHF to establish performance and development goals for team members. Working with the MHF, provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance. Work with the MHF to lead and administer all housekeeping operations to include, but not limited to, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, inventory control, department management, policy and procedure implementation, enforcement, meeting participation and facilitation. Oversee the completion of scheduled housekeeping and janitorial tasks utilizing a scheduled work crew of staff and volunteers during an assigned shift. Develop and maintain the standard operating procedures for maintaining the cleanliness of the Answers Academy and Headquarters facilities. Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward. Submit to the MHF all purchase requests. Calculate and compare costs for goods and services to maximize cost-effectiveness. Work closely with the MHF to recruit, interview and train team members. Actively inspect all areas of the property to ensure standards are maintained and identify opportunities for process improvements. And all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management. QualificationsRequirements Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith. Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church. Commitment to Christ and AiG mission Able to stay calm and work well under pressure, determine priorities and produce results. Hands-on position requiring standing, bending, and lifting (up to 40#). Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and janitorial equipment. (SDS & OSHA) Good communication and time management skills. Able to adjust to changing schedules and work priorities. Dependable with reliable transportation, a current driver’s license, and a good driving record. Attention to detail: eyes on housekeeping standards, costs, safety. Leadership: leads by example and resolves conflicts and gets the job done. Management skills: build relationships with employees and holds them accountable. Organizational skills: provides oversight of schedules, shipments, and cleaning. Problem-solving skills: ability to multitask and think quickly under pressure. Speaking skills: accurately and easily communicate standards and give orders. Stamina: willing to work long hours and be on their feet for long periods. Faith-based: must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith. Committed: maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Faithful: regularly attends a local Bible-believing church. Education & Experience Any combination of education or 3-5 years’ job-related experience that provides the required knowledge and ability to perform the above duties and responsibilities. Previous experience in supervising and leading a team is preferred. Knowledge of housekeeping operations preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills. Good computer skills, including Word and Excel. Previous experience performing janitorial services and/or light maintenance preferred.
