The RN Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of resident care during assigned shifts in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and facility policy under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing/designee.  This role provides clinical supervision to nursing staff, ensures continuity of care, and serves as a key resource for residents, families, and staff.

  • Supervises LPNs, CNAs/STNAs
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work in alignment with resident needs and staff capabilities
  • Prepares work assignments, adjusting for staffing levels and resident safety
  • Receives staffing-related calls and arranges replacements as needed
  • Transfers employees among units per staffing demands
  • Completes performance evaluations and provides input on hiring, disciplining, or terminating staff
  • Adjusts break schedules and resolves staff concerns
  • Oversee unit operations during absence of higher-level management
  • Use independent judgment in accordance with company policies and applicable laws

Education and/or experience:

  • Preferred: Minimum of two years’ experience in a long-term care setting

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current state license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Current CPR certification or CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
