About the Role:
Antonio's DeafPlus Supported Living in Escondido, CA is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this rewarding role, you'll make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals who are Deaf and have additional support needs. Responsibilities:
- Provide daily living support and personal care assistance to individuals who are Deaf and have developmental or physical disabilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks
- Facilitate community integration and accompany clients to appointments, outings, and social activities
- Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
- Communicate effectively with Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals using ASL or other preferred communication methods
- Collaborate with care teams, families, and supervisors to ensure client well-being
- Respond appropriately to behavioral support needs and crisis situations
Requirements:
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a direct support role preferred
- American Sign Language (ASL) skills strongly preferred or willingness to learn
- Knowledge of or experience with the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community is a plus
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check and health screening
- Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
