Purpose

Operate assigned cut-off lines to produce core wire used in the manufacture of manual electrodes while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met.

Job Description (Duties and Responsibilities)

  1. Operates mild steel, high-carbon steel, and stainless-steel draw benches and roll-cut machines to draw down coiled steel rod, straighten wire, and cut it to specified lengths.
  2. Produces core wire meeting quality and production requirements.
  3. Inspects a sample of core wire from each tote box to verify conformance to physical and quality specifications.
  4. Fills tote boxes with cut wire and identifies each tote using the required color-code tag that corresponds to the source rod.
  5. Accurately records operator code, line number, and Team Lead code in ink on each color-code tag.
  6. Completes line changeovers in accordance with established procedures.
  7. Identifies, isolates, and follows procedures for wire that does not meet specification requirements.
  8. Reviews, understands, and complies with all applicable departmental procedures, work instructions, specifications, plant rules, and job hazard analyses related to the role.
  9. Operates equipment only when guards are in place and functioning properly and follows all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  10. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area and reports safety hazards, equipment concerns, or EHS questions to the supervision.
  11. Uses required personal protective equipment in accordance with Plant Rules and Regulations.
  12. Works collaboratively as part of the production team and supports efficient department operations.
  13. Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed by supervision.

Basic Requirements

  1. High school Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Manufacturing or industrial equipment operation experience preferred
  3. Ability to operate cut-off lines, draw benches, roll-cut machines, butt welders, wire pointers, and related department equipment (training provided).
  4. Ability to use measuring devices such as flat micrometers (0–1").
  5. Ability to read, write, and perform general math to complete required records.
  6. Ability to understand and interpret manufacturing procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
  7. Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to safety and quality.
  8. Visual ability to distinguish color codes
