Previous shipping, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience is strongly preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus. What You’ll Do As a Shipping Specialist, you will: Safely and efficiently operate a forklift throughout the majority of the shift. Operate forklifts in high-traffic areas, around production work centers, pedestrian walkways, trucks, trailers, and finished product. Load finished goods onto flatbeds, vans, intermodal containers, common carriers, and rail boxcars. Stage product accurately and efficiently for outbound shipments. Perform final visual inspections of finished goods before shipment. Verify loads for accuracy and help ensure products reach customers safely and in good condition. Receive and unload inbound and returned products, verifying shipment paperwork before unloading. Maintain accurate finished goods inventory and participate in cycle counts and physical inventories. Work closely with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure finished goods are properly labeled and inventory discrepancies are addressed promptly. Operate a yard tractor to safely move loaded and unloaded trailers, containers, and vans to and from loading areas. Complete required pre-shift inspections, forklift inspections, and yard reports. Use air guns, power tools, and hand tools to properly secure outbound loads. Communicate professionally with drivers and carriers and provide required shipping documentation. Complete system transactions and shipping paperwork, including packing slips, bills of lading, and carrier release communications. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse. Follow established stacking, storage, safety, and loading requirements. Work independently while staying focused on priorities and changing daily demands. Participate in safety, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement efforts. Perform other duties as needed to support the Logistics and Operations teams. QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For This role requires someone who is already comfortable operating a forklift and can do so safely and confidently in a fast-moving environment. Successful candidates will bring: Previous forklift operating experience required. Demonstrated ability to safely operate a forklift with full loads in high-traffic warehouse or manufacturing environments. Ability to obtain and maintain States Industries forklift certification. Previous shipping, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Experience loading trucks, trailers, containers, or similar transportation equipment strongly preferred. Experience with inventory control, shipping documentation, or warehouse systems preferred. Yard tractor experience is a plus. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus. Strong attention to detail and organization. Ability to work independently and manage priorities throughout the shift. Ability to work productively with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to read work lists, item numbers, serial numbers, quantities, product descriptions, and shipping documents. Basic computer and data-entry skills. Basic math skills. Strong problem-solving skills and good judgment. Dependability and a strong safety mindset. Physical Requirements This is an active warehouse and manufacturing position. Employees in this role must be able to: Spend approximately 80% of the shift operating a forklift. Sit for extended periods while operating powered equipment. Regularly stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance as required. Frequently use hands and arms to operate equipment and handle materials. Safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Work around moving equipment, trailers, trucks, and warehouse traffic.
