An effective Parent Partner should be friendly, helpful, accessible and flexible. Must be the biological, adoptive, kin parent or non-related family member of a youth with emotional or behavioral challenges or has had systems experience with their child in a child serving system. Key Responsibilities: Teaches skills for parents to be able to effectively participate in the Wraparound process. Builds hope for families and clients. Effectively/professionally connects with client/family on a personal basis to build trust with client and family. Participates collaboratively in identifying potential team members and developing motivational techniques to ensure commitment to the team. Understands and explains the parents’ perspective, culture and beliefs in a way that increases understanding by others, while decreasing differences and highlighting similarities. Assesses the level of support needed by parent based on the family’s support network, their ability to involve their support networks, and the ability of the parent to be heard by others. Meets with family regularly and consistently to encourage and support an understanding of their vision for the future. QualificationsEducation and/or Experience  Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent degree   Be willing to share their experience   Must be the biological, adoptive, kin parent or non-related family member of a youth with emotional or behavioral challenges or has had systems experience with their child in a child serving system Must have life experience as the parent of a youth with emotional or behavioral challenges.  Education in social services is optimal, but not necessary.  Conditions of Employment: Must be willing to obtain Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification (Within 6 months of employment)  Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License, current auto insurance, and a clean DMV printout (no more than 3 points). Must pass a clear background check with CACI, DOJ & FBI. CPR and First Aid Certified. TB Exam and Physical at the time of employment. Driving Requirement: This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes and on-call rotation.  Driving is a required function of this position. Employees must use a personal vehicle that meet all agency requirements, including maintaining liability insurance that meets or exceeds state requirements. Employees are responsible for ensuring the timely renewal of their vehicle insurance policies and providing updated documentation to the agency to remain in good standing and compliant with position requirements.
