Job Summary

The Associate NetworkOperations Center (NOC) Technician is responsible for the day-to-day monitoringof Ziply Fiber networks infrastructure. This position is responsible tomonitor, document, escalate problems, and receive customer calls. The AssociateNOC Technician spends a great deal of time working in a team environment withother network staff but also works on projects independently. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Essential Duties andResponsibilities listed below are a range of duties performed by the employeeand not intended to reflect all duties performed.

 

Systems Monitoring &Operations

·            Monitorthe overall health and availability of all systems from the Network OperationsCenter.

·            MonitorNetwork/systems alarms and create tickets for associated issue to dispatch torequired group for resolution.

·            Provideshift support for the Ziply Fiber networks system.

 

Technical Troubleshooting& Documentation

·            Basicknowledge with methodical, Logical, and process driven troubleshooting skillsusing tools such as nslookup, ping, traceroute, ipstat, tcpdump, curl, loganalysis, remedy, etc.

·            Basicknowledge with documentation of processes, procedures, and systems

 

Customer & SupportInteraction

·            Receiveinbound support requests via email, phone, and chat.

·            Greatcustomer service skills.

·            Quickto adapt to a fast pace job addressing a wide range of issues.

 

Process Adherence

·            Adherenceto the processes and policies in the NOC master playbook.

 

Other Duties

·        Performsother duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.

 

Required Qualifications:

·        Highschool diploma or GED.

·        Basic knowledgeof network protocols and network topology.

·            Basicknowledge with troubleshooting internet routing protocols ( OSPF,BGP,etc).

·        Basicknowledge with VOIP (SIP,TDM, etc).

·        Basicknowledge with the operation of routers and switches.

·        Abilityto thrive in a high pressure environment.

·        Abilityto provide excellent customer service. 

·        Abilityto use NOC tools for issue identification and escalation.

·        Timemanagement skills and ability to prioritize.

·        Abilityto communicate effectively with all levels within an organization.

·        Oraland written communication skills. 

·        Abilityto operate various office equipment such as personal computer, various softwareprograms including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Visio), andtelephone systems.

·        Ambitiousand goal oriented.

·        Attentionto detail and problem-solving skills.   

·        Abilityto work as part of a team while performing as an individual. 

·        Abilityto work various shifts as needed, including weekdays, weekends, swing andnight. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Telecom Network Operations Center experience.  

·        Basicexperience and understanding of switches and routers.

·        Basicunderstanding of IPv4 and IPv6 subnet address standards.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office setting withexposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer,keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work is primarily amodern office setting.
