The Calibration / Service Technician (TCAL) performs advanced calibration, service, and repair activities for high‑accuracy temperature, thermometry, and environmental calibration products historically supported at the American Fork (AFL) site and now transitioned to TCAL at Fluke Park Laboratories (FPL). The technician executes accredited and traceable calibrations, complex diagnostics, and repair activities, while supporting TCAL throughput, quality objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities Calibration & Technical Execution

  • Perform complex TCAL calibrations in accordance with approved procedures, including:
    • Temperature standards, readouts, probes, baths, furnaces, and environmental equipment
  • Execute calibration and service work, maintaining comparable technical depth and quality expectations
  • Perform diagnostics and repair of TCAL products using mechanical, electrical, and system‑level troubleshooting methods
  • Finalize calibrations, generate and review data, and complete compliant calibration certificates

Quality & Accreditation

  • Perform work in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and TCAL quality procedures
  • Ensure technical validity of results, proper uncertainty application, and adherence to method requirements
  • Support audits, corrective actions, proficiency demonstrations, and technical reviews as assigned
  • Demonstrate full competency prior to performing unassisted calibrations

Systems & Workflow

  • Accurately update Oracle / service systems to reflect job status, material usage, and work completion
  • Issue, consume, and return parts correctly to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Identify bottlenecks, abnormal conditions, and improvement opportunities within TCAL workflows

Leadership, Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Act as a technical resource within TCAL processes and product families
  • Provide work guidance, mentorship, and informal training to lower‑level technicians
  • Collaborate across TCAL, Service, Production, Materials, and Metrology teams to meet demand and throughput goals
  • Exercise judgment in solving novel or complex technical problems with minimal supervision

Scope of Work (Former AFL Alignment)

This role supports TCAL execution of workloads historically performed at American Fork, including:

  • High‑accuracy and low‑volume calibration processes
  • Long‑duration thermal calibrations requiring equipment stabilization
  • Standards maintenance and interim checks
  • Service and production demand crossover

Qualifications Required

  • Advanced technical expertise in calibration, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex, non‑routine calibration processes
  • Strong understanding of laboratory practices, quality systems, and service workflows
  • Ability to work independently with limited precedent
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Technical Associate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience with:
    • TCAL, AFL, or Primary Lab processes
    • High‑accuracy thermometry and environmental calibration
    • ISO/IEC 17025 accredited labs

  • Plays a critical role in maintaining continuity of AFL technical capability within TCAL
