Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job Type: Full-Time & Part-Time Positions Available

Focus Behavioral Health is looking for caring, reliable, and motivated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). In this role, you’ll work one-on-one with adults with Autism and Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities, providing the support they need to build independence, work toward personal goals, and enjoy greater involvement in their communities.

As a DSP, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in someone’s everyday life. You’ll help individuals develop practical life skills, build relationships, participate in activities they enjoy, and work toward becoming as independent as possible.

Students and individuals pursuing careers in psychology, social work, education, nursing, healthcare, human services, or related fields are encouraged to apply. This position provides flexible scheduling, paid training, and hands-on experience that can be valuable for both personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities

As a DSP, you will:

  • Assist individuals with everyday activities such as household chores, meal preparation, personal independence, and community participation

  • Provide direct care and support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

  • Help maintain the individual’s health, safety, dignity, and well-being

  • Support individuals in working toward their personal goals and developing greater independence

  • Encourage participation in meaningful activities and community experiences

  • Establish positive, professional relationships while promoting respect, choice, dignity, and self-determination

What We’re Looking For

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

  • Ability to successfully complete required criminal background clearances

  • Previous experience in human services, caregiving, or direct support is helpful, but not required

  • Dependable, compassionate, patient, and team-oriented

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Physical Requirements

This position may require employees to provide physical assistance to individuals, including:

  • Helping individuals stand, walk, transfer, or move safely through lifting, guiding, or other physical support when needed

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds or more at times
