Job Location: Exeter - Exeter, NH 03833

Position Summary: The Occupational Therapist (OT) performs evaluations and plans and implements rehabilitative treatment programs for patients as ordered and approved by physicians. This includes treatment with orthopedic, hand and sports medicine injuries, and pain and dysfunction.

 

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional occupational therapy and the materials and supplies utilized in the program. 
  • Meets the patient’s goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results
  • Proficient at administering & changing treatments in accordance to plan of care including but not limited to therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercise, manual techniques,  modalities, postural education, wound care, prosthetic management , patient and family education.
  • Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
  • Set up and administer treatment modalities including but not limited to MH/Ice Packs, IS, Electrical Stimulation, and Iontophoresis
  • Monitor patients response to treatment
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Works in accordance with HIPPA rules and regulation & fully demonstrates patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 
  • Ability to interpret prescriptions related to therapy needed. 
  • Good interpersonal skills in establishing effective working relations with staff. 
  • Ability to communicate instructions and technical information to patients. 
  • Handling & protecting patient information.
  • Promotes internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Builds and promotes a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Attendance: works as scheduled and is compliant with Attendance and Tardiness Policy.

Qualifications


Education & Qualifications:

  • Required: Licensed by the New Hampshire; BCLS; Bachelor or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
