NEBH is actively seeking a per diem Hand therapist for our outpatient locations in Boston and Dedham Massachusetts. This setting caters to patients with general upper extremity orthopedic injuries, work-injuries, post-operative and non-operative hand, wrist and elbow diagnoses as well as acute and chronic disorders. Responsibilities include fabrication and fitting of custom splints/orthoses in a patient-centered outpatient environment.

Job Description:

OCCUPTIONAL THERAPIST-HAND

Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Upon notification of a written referral, initiates the patient care process of assessment of the patient's functional status and needs.
  • Utilizes this assessment to formulate a plan of care to meet the patient's needs, including documentation of realistic, measurable goals.
  • Implements the plan of care to meet the established goals within a reasonable time frame in accordance with established Hand Therapy modalities and procedures, with awareness of body mechanics and safety and infection control issues.
  • Reassess patient's progress relative to achievement of established goals and recognize need to implement changes evidenced by documentation of patient's response to treatment.
  • Understands role in process of discharge planning and continuing care through interaction with patient, family members, employer, and other members of the health care team as appropriate while actively participating in rounds or patient care team conference.
  • Promotes the patient's active involvement in treatment through patient education and instruction of specific treatment procedures for reinforcement of program, prevention of further injury and to facilitate “ownership” of health attitude. Develops educational materials for distribution as indicated.
  • Follows the department's Documentation Guidelines and maintains updated records which include completing all evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, daily treatment charge sheets, and flow sheets thoroughly and in a timely fashion.
  • Participates in the Clinical education program through the supervision and instruction of affiliating Occupational Therapy students.
  • Supervises Rehab Aide in performance of assigned tasks, when indicated.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service education programs both inside and outside of this institution.
  • Participates in new program development and implementation for the Rehabilitation Services Department to maintain high quality standards of patient care.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required.

MA Occupational Therapist License (renewed every 2 years)

3-5 years minimum work experience

 

 

Pay Range:

$39.50 - $55.31

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
