Role Overview

 

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in driving operational excellence by developing, optimizing, and sustaining efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing processes. This position partners closely with production, quality, and design engineering teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives and support the successful launch of new products. Through data-driven analysis, project leadership, and hands-on collaboration on the manufacturing floor, this role directly impacts product quality, cost, and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities & Key Performance Indicators

 

  • Designs, implements, and optimizes manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, improve production capacity, reduce waste, and ensure quality standards are met. Evaluates current manufacturing processes for potential efficiency, quality, safety, cost, and capacity improvements utilizing knowledge of established manufacturing processes, product designs, and lean manufacturing/continuous improvement principles, providing recommendations for improvement (upgrades, new technology, process/product design changes, etc).
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, maintenance, and design engineering to resolve manufacturing issues, develop manufacturing methods for new products, and implement solutions effectively.
  • Assists manufacturing with decision-making by calculating production, labor, and material costs, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements. Leads project management activities to include coordination and completion of capital projects on time, within budget, and within scope. Participates in capital equipment justification, selection, and implementation, and designs and prepares concept drawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment.
  • Conducts feasibility studies, process simulations, and risk assessments for new processes or process changes. Creates and maintains manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Participates in supplier qualification and development activities related to manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Ensures safety compliance in all processes, achieving company and department safety targets per yearly approved KPIs.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing process improvements and driving operational excellence.
  • Experience with a variety of manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, tool design, and production principles.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design and process improvement.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, or schematics.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and statistical analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across different departments and levels of the organization.
  • Project management skills to lead and coordinate process improvement projects effectively.

Decision Making

  • Determine optimal manufacturing processes while considering efficiency, quality, cost, and scalability.
  • Select appropriate equipment and machinery for each manufacturing process by evaluating capabilities, compatibility with existing systems, cost-effectiveness, and future expansion needs.
  • Identify root causes of production issues and implement timely corrective actions based on analysis of process data, experimentation, and collaboration with other departments.
  • Prioritize continuous improvement projects in efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Accurately estimate project budgets to stay within 5% of projected budget

  • Experience in commercial foodservice or appliance manufacturing
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional project teams
  • Familiarity with supplier qualification or development

Salary & Benefits

 

The salary range for this position is $[65,000]– $[85,000] annually. This range is a good faith estimate of what Hoshizaki America expects to pay for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
