Join a Precision Manufacturing Team Supporting the Defense & Aerospace Industry

We are seeking an experienced DoD/Aerospace Estimator to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a candidate with experience estimating small- and large-run prototype metal stampings, tooling, weldments, and fabricated assemblies for the defense and aerospace industries.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of DoD specifications, aerospace standards, government procurement requirements, and prototype manufacturing processes. You will play a critical role in evaluating customer requirements, developing competitive cost estimates, and supporting the successful launch of new programs.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for prototype and production tooling, stampings, fabricated components, and assemblies.
  • Review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, specifications, statements of work, and military standards to determine manufacturability and project feasibility.
  • Develop accurate quotations for DoD and Aerospace contracts, including labor, materials, tooling, outside processing, plating, heat treating, finishing, inspection, and testing.
  • Interpret customer prints, GD&T, material specifications, military specifications (MIL-SPEC), and aerospace requirements.
  • Solicit and evaluate supplier quotes for raw materials, purchased components, and subcontracted services.
  • Develop manufacturing routings, bills of material (BOMs), and labor estimates.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to optimize product designs for manufacturability and cost.
  • Enter complete estimates into the ERP/quoting system (Plex, Paperless, or similar).
  • Conduct contract reviews for awarded projects and coordinate project handoffs to internal teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and standard costing practices.
  • Assist with additional estimating and manufacturing projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience within the Defense and/or Aerospace manufacturing industry.
  • Experience quoting prototype and production metal stampings, tooling, fabricated parts, and assemblies.
  • Experience preparing quotations for DoD contracts and interpreting government specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including:
    • Prototype & production stamping
    • Tooling
    • CNC machining
    • Welding
    • Fabrication
    • Assembly
    • Heat treating
    • Plating and finishing
  • Experience obtaining supplier quotations and developing complete manufacturing cost models.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft OfficePaperless

Preferred

  • Experience with DIBBS (Defense Logistics Agency Internet Bid Board System).
  • Familiarity with MIL-SPEC, AS9100, and other DoD/Aerospace quality standards.
  • Knowledge of government welding specifications and aerospace manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience using Plex, Paperless Parts, or similar ERP/quoting software.
  • Experience reviewing government contracts and technical data packages.
  • Familiarity with CAD viewers such as Spinfire or similar software.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent industry experience.
