Press Operator – 2nd Shift (Monday–Thursday | 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM)

Enjoy a 4-day work week! PTM Corporation is looking for experienced Press Operators to join our 2nd Shift team. This schedule offers three-day weekends most weeks, with only occasional Friday work based on production needs.

PTM Corporation is seeking a skilled Press Operator to safely set up and operate progressive stamping presses while producing high-quality parts that meet customer specifications. If you have experience with progressive dies, quality inspections, and manufacturing in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate progressive stamping presses safely and efficiently.
  • Install, transfer, and align dies for production.
  • Perform coil changes, including aligning dies, feeders, and material.
  • Adjust press settings, feed systems, and coil height to maintain quality and safe operation.
  • Identify tooling wear or damage and communicate maintenance needs.
  • Set up peripheral equipment, including conveyors, lubricators, guards, and unloading devices.
  • Obtain first-piece approval before production begins.
  • Perform in-process inspections using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment.
  • Read blueprints and work instructions to ensure parts meet customer specifications.
  • Make adjustments throughout production to maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles.
  • Accurately record production and complete required documentation in Plex.
  • Label containers and process materials correctly throughout production.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as authorized.
  • Communicate equipment, quality, or production issues with Supervisors, Quality, and Maintenance.
  • Stop production when safety or quality concerns arise and notify leadership immediately.
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of press operator experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating progressive stamping presses.
  • Experience with die setup and die transfers.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow work instructions.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with manufacturing software (Plex experience is a plus).
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus.

  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work safely around moving machinery and manufacturing equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other equipment as required.
