Senior Digital Engineer – MBSE / SysML

Job Description

Sumaria Systems is seeking a Senior Digital Engineer – MBSE / SysML to provide technical and digital engineering support to the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. This is a full-time position supporting the ASTRA program.

Responsibilities

  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to support the development and modernization of model-centric intelligence capabilities.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze system models using SysML and associated digital engineering tools.
  • Assess existing modeling processes and recommend improvements to performance, feasibility, interoperability, and alignment with mission requirements.
  • Develop model-centric architectures that improve requirements traceability, system understanding, and technical decision-making.
  • Translate mission, operational, and technical requirements into system models, architectures, interfaces, and other digital engineering artifacts.
  • Support the transition of document-centric engineering and analytic processes to model-centric digital engineering approaches.
  • Develop and recommend modeling standards, reusable approaches, and best practices supporting consistent MBSE implementation.
  • Collaborate with Government engineers, intelligence analysts, technical SMEs, and mission partners to integrate models and engineering information across organizational and technical boundaries.
  • Support integration of MBSE and modeling and simulation activities with broader NASIC modernization initiatives.
  • Assess modeling tools, methodologies, and emerging capabilities for potential application to NASIC mission requirements.
  • Develop technical assessments, recommendations, and status products supporting modernization activities and Government decision-making.

Qualifications

Master's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience. A bachelor's degree with 13+ years of relevant experience may be substituted.

Demonstrated experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and developing or maintaining SysML-based system models. Experience translating mission needs, operational concepts, or technical requirements into system architectures, models, or digital engineering artifacts. Experience supporting complex systems engineering, digital engineering, modeling and simulation, or related technical programs.

Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or comparable MBSE tools is desired. Experience supporting NASIC, the Intelligence Community, Department of the Air Force, or DoD acquisition programs is desired. Experience integrating MBSE with modeling and simulation, mission engineering, intelligence production, or acquisition environments is desired. OCSMP or comparable MBSE/SysML certification is desired.

Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate complex technical concepts to Government stakeholders and technical teams.
