Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Water practice is seeking a highly motivated Resident Engineer with large water and wastewater pump stations, treatment plants and/or force main project experience. This opportunity is for long-term water and wastewater treatment projects and programs in the Fairfax, VA area.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the technical supervision for the construction phase of projects. Various project types include large wastewater pump stations and water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Responsible for supervising Stantec staff, including development of Management plans, tracking career progress, mentoring, advocating for and approving timesheets and training/development requests.
  • Manage inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with clients’ requirements.
  • Act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors’ RFI's and review of shop drawings.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on assigned construction contracts, with primary responsibility for construction contract administration and quality management.
  • Responsible for overall site safety, permit status compliance and coordination with other agencies.
  • Familiarity with construction procedures and scheduling of work sequences.
  • Provides technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality.
  • Manage office staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.
  • Monitors Contractor performance, quality, schedule, overall responsiveness, and effectiveness.
  • Exerts influence over and maintain excellent relationships with Contractors to maintain project goals.
  • Coordinate with PM to manage the Contractor monthly payment process and recommends appropriate adjustments as necessary to manage the Contractor.
  • Position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
