General Description

The Physical Security Design & Construction Coordinator is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, quality assurance, and documentation of physical security systems across client facilities. This position is fully on-site at a client location (client name not disclosed) and ensures all security technology meets enterprise physical security standards.


The Coordinator serves as a subject matter expert (SME) supporting Field Operations, project teams, and business stakeholders. The role is heavily involved in design reviews, construction planning, partner engagement, and acceptance testing, ensuring security solutions effectively mitigate risk while enabling business operations. This position requires approximately 25% travel.


Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and apply architectural, engineering, and construction drawings for physical security system layout and installation.
  • Develop complete physical security system designs for client-occupied and third-party spaces, ensuring integrator-installed systems meet physical security standards.
  • Participate in weekly project and construction meetings to maintain scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Serve as a liaison between Security Consulting, Field Operations, and Lines of Business (LOBs), providing expert guidance on physical security risks and design strategies.
  • Document security system layouts, equipment selections, design changes, and installation requirements.
  • Conduct design page-turns with stakeholders and integrators to validate design expectations.
  • Perform system acceptance testing to confirm systems meet design intent and operational requirements.
  • Support ongoing quality assurance processes for existing and emerging security technologies.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of experience designing, implementing, installing, servicing, and/or programming electronic physical security systems.
  • Strong understanding of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and visitor management technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting access levels, readers, and security software platforms.
  • Experience working for a security integrator as a designer, installer, or technician is preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction and engineering drawings.
  • Must have experience using design tools; experience with Bluebeam is preferred.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Familiarity with design and construction processes is required.
  • PSP (Physical Security Professional) certification or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%.


Preferred Technical Experience

Hands-on experience with one or more of the following systems:

  • Lenel
  • Genetec
  • Verint
  • DMP
  • Mastermind


Other Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, demonstrating strong judgment and decision-making.
  • Strong time-management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • General understanding of the convergence between physical and information security.
  • Experience working with project management tools, such as Jira, is a plus.
  • Commitment to professional development and adherence to ethical and industry standards.
