UVA | Northern Virginia is hosting its Inspire Program for High School students in Northern Virginia during Summer 2026. The Inspire Program is for high school students (rising 10-12 graders) and will run June 22nd – July 31st, 2026. Inspire bridges the gap between curriculum and interest-based learning, offering both in-person (Fairfax, VA) and online programming.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants (TAs) to support in-person and online courses in Northern Virginia (Fairfax, VA). TAs are responsible for supporting the instructor and the students’ engagement, inside and outside of the classrooms We are hiring for the following roles: 

  • Summer TAs (Multiple Positions, dependent on Enrollment) 

  • 1 Lead Inspire TA  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Provide exceptional support to the instructor. 

  • Create an inclusive and empowering learning environment for students. 

 

In-Person Time Commitment  

  • Both Summer TA's and Lead Inspire TA: June 22nd - July 31st.

  • 8:00am – 4:30pm from Monday - Friday. 

  • Three 1-hour orientation sessions before the start of the course.  

  • Summer TA training begins the week of June 15th. (Up to 20 hours).

  • This is an in-person position. The ability to commute to Fairfax, Virginia is required. 

 

Lead Inspire TA 

The lead TA for Inspire will be responsible for all tasks and time commitments listed above with the addition of: 

  • Up to 10 hours online per week from time of hire (May 1st) to program start date (June 22nd).

  • Editing documents, creating welcome packets, emailing students, setting up Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). 

  • 2 full days in person before the program start date for setup. 

 

The Lead TA is not required to complete work in person until June 2nd. Some weekend work may be required to respond to learners. 

 

Compensation  

  • $22/ hour.

**Please note, this is an hourly paid position and not a graduate teaching assistantship (no health care subsidy or tuition remission)**

This position is open to all UVA undergraduate and graduate students who have completed their first year by June 2025.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
