Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a self-motivated engineer to join our team in the Silver Spring, MD or Fairfax, VA. Position will require working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver wastewater conveyance/treatment projects and water distribution/treatment projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  Position provides opportunities for career development, with exposure to many types of projects across planning, design and construction, and career advancement with progression for leading tasks of increasing size and complexity. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with delivery of wastewater conveyance and treatment projects including planning, analysis, permitting, and design
  • Assisting with delivery of water treatment/distribution projects including planning, analysis, permitting, and design
  • Contributing to the development of construction documents and technical specifications.
  • Providing construction management support
  • Exposure to water and wastewater business development efforts
  • Communicating and interacting with clients and internal team members
  • Field work and site visits for projects may be required

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering (M.S. degree preferred)
  • 2+ years’ experience (internships may count towards experience)
  • EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in advanced Microsoft Excel tools (e.g. PowerPivot) or Microsoft PowerBI are favorable
  • Excellent writing, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work individually and as a member of a team
