Position Summary: 

The Athletics Basketball Score Table Assistant will support game-day operations for MIU basketball by assisting with score table responsibilities after completing proper training. Duties may include preparing the scorebook, maintaining player rosters, managing the possession arrow, recording game statistics, and operating the game and shot clocks. The position will help ensure accurate and efficient score table operations during basketball games.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled game to prepare the score table, equipment, rosters, and game documents.
  • Operate the official game clock, shot clock, scoreboard, possession indicator, or other assigned score-table equipment.
  • Accurately record points, fouls, substitutions, timeouts, player points 

Qualifications:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student who is eligible to participate in the university’s work-study program.
  • Must have a basic understanding of basketball rules, scoring procedures, fouls, substitutions, timeouts, and game timing.
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail, accuracy, concentration, and the ability to remain focused throughout the game.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and available to work evenings, weekends, and scheduled home games.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with officials, coaches, athletics staff, and other score-table personnel.
  • Previous experience with scorekeeping, game clocks, shot clocks, statistics, or athletic event operations is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
