Position Summary
Freestone Lake & Golf Club is seeking a Hospitality-First Restaurant Manager - someone who leads with warmth, instinct, and presence before anything else. This isn't a typical restaurant management role. We're looking for a natural host: someone who notices what a member needs before they ask, who treats every table like it's the only one that matters, and who brings that same energy to the team they lead.
Technical skill matters - but it's what you build on top of genuine hospitality, not a substitute for it. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes ownership without being asked, solves problems in real time, and knows how to turn quiet moments into opportunities - whether that's a table touch, a training moment, or getting ahead of the next rush. This role is based in Fairfield, Texas and reports to the Food and Beverage Director.
What We're Looking For
- A natural sense of hospitality - you notice details, anticipate needs, and make people feel known, not just served
- A self-starter with initiative - you solve problems and take action without waiting to be told
- Sharp instincts for downtime - you use slow moments productively, not passively
- A steady, resourceful presence - you keep service running smoothly and step in wherever it's needed
- 3–5 years of management experience in hospitality (food and beverage strongly preferred)
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, revenue generation, and cost control
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills in fast-paced, member-facing environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related business systems
What You'll Do
- Lead with hospitality first - set the tone for how every member and guest is welcomed, remembered, and taken care of
- Own the full member/guest experience from arrival to departure, anticipating needs before they're voiced
- Hire, train, and develop a front-of-house team that leads with warmth and initiative, not just execution
- Build a culture where staff take ownership - spotting what needs to happen and acting, without waiting for direction
- Turn downtime into opportunity: use slower periods for training, member touchpoints, or getting ahead on service prep
- Manage budgets, monitor expenses, and implement financial controls to maximize profitability and minimize waste
- Maintain vendor relationships, oversee inventory, and ensure consistent operational efficiency
- Partner with leadership to elevate the restaurant's atmosphere and service standards
- Support marketing and branding initiatives that reflect Freestone's hospitality-first identity
- Resolve member and guest concerns with warmth and speed, ensuring every interaction reinforces trust
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Collaborate with culinary leadership to support menu execution and efficient kitchen operations
Physical Demands
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and occasional sitting
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments
