ABOUT THE TEAM

The Director of Stores reports to the CEO and leads the retail organization across the store fleet. Direct reports include the Retail Operations Manager, Field Sales Manager, Store Managers, and Merchandising Coordinator. This role leads Sales, Operations, and Merchandising as one integrated retail function—driving execution, accountability, and financial performance across the store fleet.


YOUR IMPACT

This role is accountable for delivering the retail P&L through people, product, and execution across the store fleet. The Director of Stores drives profitable, scalable growth by leading a high-performing team, ensuring disciplined operations, and delivering a consistent, elevated brand experience.


WHAT YOU’LL OWN

Business Performance 

  • Own total retail business performance including Sales, Margin, and Profitability 
  • Own full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense management 
  • Set and drive financial targets, and KPIS across the store fleet 
  • Drive sales performance through the Field Sales Manager and Store Managers 
  • Own core KPIs including conversion, UPT, DPT, Margin, and selling behaviors 
  • Own payroll strategy and productivity (SPH) to align labor with sales performance 
  • Identify risks and opportunities and take action to protect and drive profitability 
  • Ensure reporting translates into clear actions and measurable results 

People & Organizational Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Retail Operations Manager, Field Sales Manager, Store Managers, and Merchandising Coordinator 
  • Build a high-performing, accountable leadership structure across the store fleet 
  • Build and evolve organizational structure, role clarity, and succession planning to support long-term growth
  • Drive performance management, coaching, and accountability at all levels, anchored by clear performance cadence and store-level action plans
  • Lead field employee relations strategy in partnership with the Field Sales Manager and Human Resources 
  • Ensure onboarding, training, and development programs are executed with consistency

 

Operations, Execution & Infrastructure

  • Own operational excellence across the store fleet through the Retail Operations Manager 
  • Ensure consistent execution of policies, procedures, and brand standards 
  • Translate strategy into clear direction and drive rapid execution across field teams
  • Oversee new store openings, including systems, setup, and operational readiness 
  • Ensure stores are equipped with the tools, supplies, and infrastructure required to perform 
  • Own POS, systems, and store technology performance in partnership with IT 
  • Own inventory integrity, shrink strategy, and operational compliance 
  • Remove operational barriers and lead process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability

Product, Brand & Customer Experience

  • Drive product performance across the store fleet by protecting top sellers and optimizing assortment in partnership with Planning and the Merchandising Coordinator 
  • Own pricing and promotional strategy across the store fleet to drive sales and protect margin
  • Own product and visual merchandising execution through the Merchandising Coordinator, ensuring clean, consistent brand standards across all locations 
  • Ensure timely and accurate product flow from inbound to floor to protect in-stock position
  • Define and elevate the end-to-end customer experience across all locations 
  • Partner with Marketing to execute promotions, events, and traffic-driving initiatives

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail, or related field 
  • 7–10+ years of multi-unit retail leadership experience 
  • Proven ownership of P&L and delivery of profitable sales growth 
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and lead across functions 
  • Deep understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and customer experience 
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to translate data into action 
  • Highly organized with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and execution

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel regularly to store locations 
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout store environments during visits 
  • Ability to lift and move light product or materials as needed (up to 25–40 lbs)
