What you will be doing


The Payroll Manager oversees accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations across the organization. This role manages payroll processing, timekeeping, taxes, benefits deductions, and regulatory compliance while partnering with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors. The Payroll Manager also leads payroll audits, system enhancements, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage regular, off-cycle, and bonus payrolls with strong controls and accuracy.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

  • Oversee timekeeping, PTO, and attendance data integrity.

  • Support payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end processes, including W‑2s.

  • Administer benefits, 401(k), garnishments, and other deductions.

  • Maintain and enhance payroll systems; troubleshoot issues and improve processes.

  • Partner cross-functionally to resolve payroll issues and support reporting needs.

  • Lead, train, and mentor payroll staff; support audits and reconciliations.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required

  • Minimum of five years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership of payroll operations and teams

  • Hands-on experience with payroll processing, time and attendance systems, and HRIS platforms (UKG and Workday preferred)

  • Prior supervisory experience required

  • Manufacturing payroll experience strongly preferred

  • Experience working with payroll service providers strongly preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with training, education, and change management

  • Proven ability to design, implement, and continuously improve payroll processes
