Segers Aero Corporation located in Fairhope, AL is seeking a Production Manager to join our team. 

Internal Posting Date: 1/17/2025

Purpose of Position:  To manage the department and personnel in the successful completion of quality products as directed, following company policies, SOPs and Repair Station Manual.

Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation)  

  • Supervises/coordinates the production of Product line WIP.
  • Manages, directs, trains, and works along side Shop Leads to ensure timely completion of product.
  • Trains, coaches, and develops employees as necessary to ensure production goals are met and proper procedures and policies are followed.
  • Addresses conflicts and strives to resolve them in a positive manner that benefits all parties and facilitates healthy work relationships.
  • Timely completes, approves, and adjusts time and attendance/labor reporting as required.
  • Ensures diligent and accurate use of the production software system.
  • Fills in and performs duties of Shop Leads as necessary.
  • Performs maintenance and preventive maintenance on aircraft engines, accessories, and components in accordance with SAC Repair Station Manual, SAC Quality Manual, Customer SOP’s, and applicable technical data. 
  • Responsible for holding production meetings with the technicians, inspectors, and other team members as required.
  • Responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance department in completing Corrective Action Reports with the applicable Lead Technician.
  • Responsible for assisting the Sales, Finance, Logistics, and Quality Assurance departments in the successful completion of all company goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for completing employee reviews and documenting work performance.
  • Responsible for coaching, counseling, and holding employees accountable as required.
  • Accountable for ensuring that shelf-life requirements are met throughout the department.
  • Accountable for ensuring that 6S, TPM, tool control, OJT and all other quality requirements are met throughout the department.
  • Accountable for maintaining complete and accurate production reports and shop production boards.
  • Accountable for ensuring WIP is processed correctly and efficiently in accordance with the company production schedule.
  • Accountable for maintaining appropriate levels of qualified personnel within the department to achieve company goals.
  • Accountable for ensuring all Production Department deadlines are met.
  • Accountable for ensuring monthly revenue numbers are met.
  • Accountable for ordering materials, consumables, tooling and other assets required in the Production Department.
  • Maintains and supports cost control efforts for labor and material to support facility/department financial goals.
  • Travels as required.
  • Confers with Management to recommend changes such as: equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase efficiency of department and promote improvement.
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner.
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy.
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures and PPE requirements (e.g. safety glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.) and ensures others comply with safety requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job)

  • Must have proficient knowledge of major aviation departments: Inspection, Engine, Accessory Components, Propeller, NDT
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to support the business needs
  • Must have strong project management skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with and manage diverse groups and individuals.
  • Must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers and or employees.   
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with other leaders, co-workers, customers, and others and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Must be self-directed and action-oriented with the ability to work with minimal or no direct supervision. 
  • Demonstrated time, priority, and stress management skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations.
  • Proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasks.
  • Must be able to read and interpret SDS and Technical Data Sheets to safely mix paints in accordance with specifications.
  • Must be able to apply common sense.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write, speak and understand English language
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel and the ability to learn other company specific software   
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphs. 
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE as required 
  • Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses
  • Must be able to hear running machinery
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively
  • Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead
  • Must regularly be able to squat, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and stand
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally
  • Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions 

 Experience and Education Requirements: 

  • At least 18 years of age or older and a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience working in an MRO environment is required.  
  • Minimum eight years performing/supervising maintenance T56/501 engines and QECs.
  • Must carry a current “in process” inspection stamp (triangle stamp).
  • Must pass criminal background check, DOT pre-employment drug screen and comply with all applicable FAA required regulations.
  • Position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations. Subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulations (14 CFR part 120 and 49 CFR part 40).
  • A&P license or FAA Power Plant Rating required. In lieu of holding an A&P or P license, must be able to obtain a Repairman Certificate by satisfying the requirements as called out in the FAR. 

 Work Conditions:

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud.
