PURPOSE:
Provides assistance to the Branch Manager by performing supervisory duties to promote a customer and employee centric culture. Responsible for the day-to-day branch operations, supervising and performing customer initiated transactions as well as achieving personal sales goals and proactively guiding sales activities of the platform staff toward achievement of branch goals.
Assistant Branch Managers must be available for a variety of hours including early arrival, late departure as well as Saturday and Sunday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists manager in business development, branch growth and meetings branch sales goals; assists in analysis of market and the determination of competitive position.
- Answer inquiries regarding bank products and services. Able to open new customer accounts and take loan applications as opportunities arise. Assist customers with problem resolution.
- Assists in communicating sales and service goals and in measuring resulting performance. Meet personal sales goals as assigned and assists staff in reaching assigned goals.
- Supervises staff directly and through subordinates the day to day activities of the branch. May schedule staff. Provides staff education, training and development on new and existing products and programs. Coach, train and develop subordinates. Assist in preparing individuals for career growth within the Bank. Evaluates job performance, assists individuals with personal development and recommends personnel actions Coaches and motivates team in sales initiative. Recommends disciplinary action as appropriate.
- Maintains knowledge of customer services in area of responsibility and regulatory Compliance within limits of delegated authority and procedural limits of position.
- Assists customers with various higher level bank services in accordance with bank policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Maintains and balances own cash drawer, daily ATM transactions, branch work and vault cash.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in Business or related area is preferred; High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Three years of progressive retail banking experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred; Bank experience is required.
- NMLS registration or eligibility for registration is required.
- Proven experience in management, customer service, sales/business development and problem solving skills required.
- Ability to use various office equipment including computer terminal; Intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred; knowledge of banking platform programs required.
- Ability to work under pressure, within deadlines, prioritize and manage changing priorities and multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Notary public required (eligibility for registration required at hire).
EFFORT:
- Must be able to stand for an extended period of time.
- Essential to follow written and verbal directions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, and scanners.
- Use of hands and fingers to handle/ operate a computer and other office machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, scanner, computer printer, as well as fine motor skills to count currency and coins.
- Frequently communicates verbally directly with customers and coworkers, often through glass barriers and speaker systems; uses telephone to exchange information.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance visions, ability to adjust focus.
- Regular travel between main office and branches, often within day of notice
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Full-time position, schedule varies weekly; shifts include early arrival, late departure, overtime, and/or Saturday / Sunday hours.
- Work is primarily performed standing behind the teller line within the branch. Office area is open space with cubicles.
- Frequent distractions include overhearing coworker conversations, employees working through the area and similar interruptions.
