Shift: 3:30 PM – 3:30 AM | Rotating Schedule

SUMMARY: This position is an entry level position.  Employee works under the direction of the Foreman.  Responsible to learn production sequence in order to effectively perform basic lubrication, oil changes and PM (preventive maintenance) on conveyor system. Works efficiently, safely and with a minimum amount of disruption to the production process. Responsible for communicating important information and asking correct follow-up questions.

SSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Follows company policy and OSHA regulations to ensure safe work habits and conditions for employee and fellow employees.  Responsible for following lock-out/tag-out procedures as well as all safety programs and procedures. 
  • Is at all times cognizant of personal and food safety.  If any problem (or potential problem) arises, elevates to Supervisor immediately or in a timely fashion, depending on severity of problem.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Performs basic maintenance calls. 
  • Maintains accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls and PM reports.  Prepares specific and accurate parts request form.
  • Trains/retrains as required by company training guidelines (i.e. annual GMPT).
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area within the Maintenance Shop and at each work site where jobs are performed.  Assists other employees when possible, particularly during breakdowns to maintain product flow.
  • Notifies supervision of any equipment problems or safety hazards.
  • Does not change job procedures without authorization from supervision.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force to lift and move mechanical components.
  • Must be able to read basic mechanical and electrical blue prints, gauges, scales, thermometers, micrometers, etc. is required  Must be able to do basic math calculations to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Must be capable of moving up and down building stairways in plant to reach job assignments and perform tasks required.  Tasks require working from a ladder or elevated platform.  Must be able to work at heights of up to 60 feet.  Physical activities required are climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Hearing protection is required.
  • Worker subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, and moving objects carrying considerable weight and force.
  • Must be capable of working in environment of flour dust.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

  • Preparation and Training
    • In addition to a high school level of knowledge, work requires specialized or technical training which may be obtained in high school, commercial or shop courses or equivalent experience.  Helpful to possess mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills.  It is helpful to possess welding skills to facilitate repair and installation.  Ability to use a variety of maintenance hand and power tools is required.  
  • Analytical Ability
    • A basic level of analytical ability is required in order to complete training and learn troubleshooting.
  • Independent Judgment And Consequence Of Errors
    • Independent judgment is sometimes required.  Must be able to work alone at times.
