Production Manager 1


Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. is a leading asphalt supplier and marketer in the Inland Northwest and Pacific Northwest Regions. With plants in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, California and Arizona, IAS supplies a diverse product line of asphalts, polymer modified asphalts and asphalt emulsions to the Road maintenance and construction industry. IAS is looking for an energized, flexible self-starter to fill a full-time opening for the Production Manager at our facility in Coolidge, AZ.


Position Overview:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for all aspects of liquid asphalt plant operation including staffing, EH&S compliance, housekeeping, materials inventory, production, equipment reliability, quality specification, projects to meet changing asset needs. This position works closely with the dispatcher.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Operator 5 Duties:
    • All Level 4 duties.
    • Independent and processing expert on all systems.
    • Boiler system efficiency expert.
    • Back-up to Production Manager.
    • Lead projects in any plant area.
    • Independent development (ID) improvement opportunities.
    • Track metrics and savings.
    • Maintain all processes.
    • Generate and print batch tickets.
    • Schedule employees.
    • Provide input on employee performance reviews.
    • Trains/leads Operator 1, 2, 3, and 4.
    • Responsible for all aspects of liquid asphalt plant.
    • Overseeing day-to-day plant operations.
    • Addressing customer complaints and resolving operations problem
    • Development of plant processes/systems to ensure effective material production.
    • Data entry and record keeping.
    • Maintaining an excellent team, training, mentoring and leading employees.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

To be a strong fit for this opportunity you will have:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 5 or more years of related experience/education/certification.
  • Previous work experience in managing plant/industrial facility preferred.
  • The ability to perform basic arithmetic operations accurately (add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages).
  • Exceptional computer skills (Microsoft office, excel, word, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, pull, and/or push or otherwise move 25/50/80 pounds daily/frequently.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and climb daily/frequently.
  • Must be able to walk on, or work on an open grated catwalk 50 feet high.
  • Must be able to carry a 3” x 20’ rubber asphalt hoses a distance of 120’ unassisted.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders daily/frequently to a height of 50 feet.
  • Must be able to work in a crouched position beneath transport trailers or rails cars for a minimum of 20 minutes at a time for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to work in enclosed or confined spaces (tanks).
  • Must be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach/working overhead occasionally.
  • Must be able to sit, with keyboard use/repetitive hand motion occasionally.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor in safe manner, work indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment and work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear on a daily basis.
