Job DetailsJob Location: Falls Church , VA 22042NIKA is hiring for a Chief Engineer who will be responsible for the on-site Project Management of Muirkirk Road Complex (MRC) in Laurel, Maryland! Our operations management, engineering, and project management services provide our customers with the value and expertise to ensure operational readiness for complex and mission-critical facilities. NIKA benefits include PTO, holidays, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k matching, and an understanding of work/life balance.  Job Duties:   Plan, organize, and direct all operations and maintenance work at MRC Develop and maintain comprehensive preventive maintenance program Schedule equipment outages and preventive maintenance activities Manage work orders using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS/Archibus) Perform quality assurance inspections on all work performed Lead and supervise team of stationary engineers, mechanics, electricians, plumbers, and other trades Repair and maintain all facility equipment and systems Train all O&M staff on procedures, systems, and safety Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed Enforce safety and accident prevention plan Monitor operations for performance efficiency and regulatory compliance Order materials and parts for repairs, projects, and preventive maintenance Plan and forecast preventive maintenance schedules Manage boiler and chiller plant operations Ensure staff knowledge of applicable building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and  fire codes Coordinate environmental audit inspections and maintain audit readiness Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems Coordinate with Government on outages and work schedules   Required Certifications: Maryland State First Grade Stationary Engineer License (current and active, registered with Maryland Department of Labor) OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health (minimum) Requirements: Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Facility Management, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with additional 6 years relevant experience OR Technical/Trade School certificate plus 4 years additional relevant experience Minimum 7 years documented facility management or O&M contract management experience Minimum 3 years experience supervising multi-trade maintenance staff (5+ personnel) Experience with Government contracts (Federal, State, or local) preferred Experience with BSL-2 or BSL-3 laboratory facilities highly desirable Experience with AAALAC-accredited animal research facilities highly desirable Experience with facilities 250,000+ SF Documented experience on resume with verifiable references Ability to obtain and maintain a Clearance Access Card (CAC) U.S. Citizenship required NIKA provides equal employment opportunity to all individuals regardless of their race, color, creed, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by state, federal, or local law.
