Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Physician (MD/DO)

Inova Health is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Physician to join our nationally recognized women’s health team at Inova Fairfax Hospital or Inova Alexandria Hospital, home to one of the highest-volume and most advanced perinatal programs in the region, or at Inova Alexandria Hospital, a U.S. News & World Report 2026 Best Hospital for Maternity Care.

MFM Physician Job Responsibilities & Practice Details:

• Join a collaborative team of 12 Maternal-Fetal Medicine subspecialists and one advanced practice provider, supported by genetic counselors, highly skilled sonographers, and dedicated clinical staff
• Provide antenatal care and consultation services for select high-risk obstetric patients at Inova Fairfax Hospital or Inova Alexandria Hospital
• Participate in a practice model where the MFM group provides delivery services for select high-risk pregnancies, with after-hours and weekend call supported by a dedicated hospitalist program
• Engage in a team-based, multidisciplinary care model alongside:
  • OB/GYN generalists
  • Neonatology (Level IV NICU at Inova Fairfax and Level III NICU at Inova Alexandria)
  • Pediatric subspecialists
  • Genetic counseling and fetal therapy teams
• Opportunities to participate in academic and teaching activities, including working with medical students, residents, and fellows
• Contribute to a culture focused on clinical excellence, patient safety, and innovation in high-risk obstetric care

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution. Board eligible or board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Maternal Fetal Medicine.  
• Experience: Successful completion of Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program and fellowship trained in Maternal Fetal Medicine. 
• Licensure: Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start or ACLS
• Payer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
• Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years practicing as a maternal fetal medicine physician preferred
