Inova Health Center - Woodbridge is seeking an Oncology New Patient Coordinator. This position is full-time; hybrid; Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm

Oncology New Patient Coordinator Job Responsibilities

  • Accurately enters new patient information into the Epic questionnaire such as intake date, insurance status, demographics, referring provider, consultation appointments, internal/external referral source, family history, smoking history and other pertinent information.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for Oncology patients entering the Cancer Center and creates a seamless model of access and coordination for all patients through the use of Lean methodologies and error reduction techniques.
  • Schedules new patient visits with the interdisciplinary care team (i.e. surgery, plastics, radiation oncology, medical oncology and Life with Cancer) by using the electronic medical records or other scheduling systems.
  • Obtains accurate and detailed information on each patient from multiple facilities by the scheduled appointment date such as prior medical history, financial status, release forms as well as outside records, results, films and slides.
  • Responsible for the complex coordination and scheduling of diagnostic tests, procedures and physician visits.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Associate's degree in related field (or relevant experience in lieu of degree equivalent to 2 years). 
  • Experience: 3 years of relevant experience within a customer service or office setting. 
  • Certification: Certified Healthcare Access Associate or Certified Healthcare Access Manager within 1 year of employment. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training: Must be available for part-time training upon hiring (20-24 hours a week) for at least three weeks; Once fully trained, must have flexibility to work shifts around business hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm 
  • Experience: Prior/recent working experience at Inova Cancer Center 
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and provide a positive patient experience; Highly organized with strong attention to detail 
  • Other: Compassionate, patient-centered communication; Comfortable working in a high-touch, patient-facing environment; Must be able to work onsite
