Community Medical Center is hiring a full-time, 40 hour/week Surgery Scheduler/Patient Care Technician.

The Surgery Scheduler/Patient Care Tech is responsible for providing administrative, clerical, and clinical support to ensure safe, efficient, and coordinated perioperative care. This role supports surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and ancillary teams through the use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), managing scheduling, documentation, pre-operative requirements, and communication while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and experience. Main duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
·         Schedule procedures in EHR: enter, verify and update surgical case information.
·         Assist patients with coordination of pre-op and post-op appointments as needed.
·         Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA including H&P’s, lab results, imaging, and medical        clearances.
·         Route results, documents, and messages to appropriate staff.
·         Monitor work queues and messages to ensure timely follow-up.
·         Assists in the coordination of ancillary departments as needed.
·         Perform general administrative duties including supply management. 
·         Supports the surgical team by preparing rooms, readying patients, managing supplies, and maintaining sterility.
·         Provides care to the surgical patients within scope of practice including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, surgical site preparation to include hair removal, and pre-surgical scrub.
·         Maintains awareness of patient comfort and safety needs.
 
Position qualifications:
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent. 
  • Certified Nurse Aide preferred.
  • BLS Certification required. 
  • The ability to work with a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, good organizational skills, problem solving skills, and initiative. Must be able to work flexible hours and work beyond “normal” working hours when necessary. 
  • Must possess the ability to communicate respectfully and tactfully with physicians, hospital personnel, and patients.
