Job Description
This position performs a wide variety of electrical tasks in Institution Buildings and on Ships
Essential Functions & DutiesÂ
Constructs, installs, and repairs electrical equipment and facilitates ashore and on-board Institution vessels. Traces, identifies, and corrects malfunction and failures for a great variety of commercial and marine electrical circuitry. Includes but not limited to:Â
Testing of electrical circuitsÂ
Support testing of sprinkler systems and elevatorsÂ
Working with electrical control systems, batteries and backup systemsÂ
Assists, as required, in design work for electrical installation and constructs required unitsÂ
Develops material lists required for work and prepares requisition for approvalÂ
Works with electrical meters and tools, mechanic’s hand and power tools, drill press, power saws, sheet metal tools, heavy equipment (forklifts, crane cars, and overhead cranes) and ship’s electrical equipment and machinery Â
Performs other such duties as deemed necessary by supervisorÂ
Required Experience & EducationÂ
High school or vocational school plus 1 year training school or apprenticeship in electrical trades Â
Valid MA driver’s licenseÂ
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)Â
Ability to obtain a MA electricians licenseÂ
Preferred Experience & EducationÂ
Licensed MA electricianÂ
Knowledge of U.S. Coast Guard rules and regulations pertinent to installation of electrical cable and equipment Â
Physical RequirementsÂ
Lifting/carrying 25lbs – 50lbs Â
Work above shoulder heightÂ
Use of ladders / bucket truckÂ
Ability to distinguish basic colorsÂ
Additional Job Requirements
Salary Range: $70,963 - $91,796
The salary range provided for this position reflects the expected minimum and maximum base pay for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market conditions. In addition to base salary, eligible employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package.Â
