What happens after someone hangs up the phone with 988 or 211? Who reaches out when someone returns home from inpatient behavioral health care?

At FirstLink, we believe a simple phone call, text message, or handwritten caring card can remind someone they matter. We're looking for a compassionate, relationship-focused individual to join our team as Follow-Up Specialist.

We are currently hiring for the Evening Shift. Candidates may choose one of the following schedules upon hire:

  • 2pm - 10pm
  • 3pm - 11pm

Candidates will also choose whether their schedule will include Saturday or Sunday to fulfill the required one-weekend workday. Every schedule at FirstLink includes two consecutive days off each week.

This position starts at $21/hour, with the opportunity to receive up to an additional $1/hour after 90 days of successful independent service delivery!

FirstLink also offers an excellent benefits package which includes 100% paid Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Short/Long-Term Disability and generous PTO accrual.

What You'll Do:

As a Follow-Up Specialist, you'll spend much of your time reaching out to individuals who have been referred for ongoing support following behavioral health treatment, a recent crisis, or contact with FirstLink's services. You'll build meaningful relationships through scheduled phone calls and text messages, provide emotional support, help individuals reconnect with community resources, and ensure people know someone genuinely cares about their wellbeing.

When you're not completing scheduled follow-up contacts, you'll also provide direct support to individuals reaching out through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and 211 Information & Referral Helpline. This allows you to maintain your crisis intervention and resource navigation skills while supporting FirstLink's overall contact center operations.

Who We're Looking For:

We're looking for people who genuinely enjoy connecting with others.

Successful candidates are compassionate listeners who communicate with warmth, empathy, and authenticity. They understand that building trust sometimes takes more than one conversation and are willing to keep reaching out because they believe every person deserves to feel supported.

Ideal candidates have experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, customer service, or other helping professions. Just as importantly, they are curious, dependable, organized, and able to remain calm during emotionally challenging conversations.

You'll thrive in this role if you're someone who remembers the small details people share, believes in meeting others where they are without judgment, and wants to make a meaningful impact every time you come to work.

Grow Your Career at FirstLink:

FirstLink is committed to investing in your professional growth!

You'll receive comprehensive training in follow-up support, crisis intervention, suicide safety assessment, and resource navigation before working independently. Throughout your career, you'll participate in ongoing coaching, professional development, and certification opportunities while working alongside experienced leaders dedicated to your success.

Whether your future interests include crisis intervention, training, quality improvement, community resources, or program leadership, FirstLink encourages internal growth and career advancement.
