The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients. Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. Cares for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move along the continuum of care. Responsible for the planning and coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions. Functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct. The Family Birth Center is a 52-bed unit with a 4-bed triage area and additional overflow capabilities. It cares for patients who are antepartum, during labor and delivery, and postpartum. The unit includes 2 operating rooms and a recovery room with 2 recovery bays. Labor nurses are trained to circulate in the OR and PACU to maximize continuity of care. The unit has a trained flight team providing regional AirMed services. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:3-4 for postpartum and newborns and 1:1 for active labor patients. The patient population includes high and low-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum women and their well newborns. Clinical lanes are in place for advancement within the unit with many opportunities for career growth. A sign-on bonus is available with work commitment to Sanford Health. OB or related clinical experience of 1 year or more is required. North Dakota RN license is required at time of hire.
