Position Summary

Great States Construction, a leading commercial general contractor based in Fargo, ND, is seeking an experienced and dedicated traveling Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations for multi-family and commercial construction projects in the Bismarck market. The Superintendent will manage on-site activities, enforce safety and quality standards, and coordinate subcontractors and field crews. The Superintendent will report directly to the VP of Construction. 


Compensation Structure

  • $110,000-$130,000k/yr Depending on Experience
  • Bonus structure based on job performance
  • Per Diem
  • Company Vehicle or Gas Stipend


Key Responsibilities

  • Direct all on-site field operations for assigned multi-family and commercial construction projects.
  • Partner with Project Managers to maintain alignment on project goals, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, foremen, and field crews to ensure efficient progress.
  • Enforce job site safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Monitor quality control to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and building codes.
  • Lead daily/weekly job site meetings with subcontractors and field teams.
  • Provide accurate daily logs, progress reports, and field documentation.
  • Anticipate and resolve field-related issues, escalating when necessary in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Support scheduling, logistics, and resource planning to keep projects on track.
  • Participate in project closeout, ensuring punch list items are completed and the site is turned over to the client in excellent condition.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of field experience in construction, with proven leadership as a Superintendent or Foreman.
  • Strong experience in multi-family construction; additional experience in commercial general contracting required.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, building codes, and safety requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead subcontractors and field crews effectively.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate as a team partner with Project Managers.
  • OSHA certification required; other industry safety credentials are a plus.
  • Ability to travel within the Bismarck region as needed.
  • Clean driving record.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Proficient with construction technology tools including Procore (preferred) and Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Physical Demands
