The Controller is a key financial leader responsible for the overall financial management of the restaurant group. This role oversees all accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. Essential Job Functions:

Financial Management & Reporting

Direct and oversee all accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Manage and coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Lead the annual budgeting process for all restaurant locations.
Develop and implement financial models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
Monitor and analyze budget variances and provide insights and recommendations to management.

Cost Control & Analysis

Implement and maintain robust systems for tracking and controlling food, beverage, and labor costs.
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) like prime cost, guest count, and average check to identify trends and opportunities.
Work with restaurant managers to optimize operational efficiency and profitability.

Internal Controls & Compliance

Establish and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
Oversee compliance with sales tax and other industry-specific regulations.

Team Leadership & Development

Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with the executive team and restaurant managers to support operational and strategic goals.

Job Specifications: The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of restaurant operations, including P&L management, prime cost analysis, and inventory control. They need advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel. The role also requires excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Strong leadership abilities and a track record of building and managing high-performing teams are also essential.
