The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for all accounting aspects related to capital and expense projects, as well as completing the month-end process for Fixed Assets. This role also manages the funds for new restaurant construction and ensures compliance with internal controls and GAAP.


Essential Job Functions:

  1. Fixed Asset Accounting & Month-End Process
  • Identify and document the proper accounting treatment (capital or expense) for projects.
  • Create and review fixed asset additions at the end of each month.
  • Prepare and record system depreciation and adjustment journal entries as needed.
  • Process fixed asset disposals.
  • Prepare month-end fixed asset reconciliations and other supporting documentation.
  1. Project & Financial Management
  • Manage funds for the construction of New Restaurant Openings (NROs).
  • Maintain a repository of invoices for funding requests.
  • Update construction budgets and track project costs.
  • Compile and complete documents to submit funding requests to the bank.
  1. Auditing & Compliance
  • Prepare a fixed asset schedule to support the annual accounting audit.
  • Review project close-outs to ensure proper documentation and reasonableness.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures in accordance with GAAP.
  • Research and resolve issues with facility managers, project managers, operations directors, and Accounting.


Responsibilities:

The Fixed Asset Accountant's responsibilities include identifying accounting treatments for projects, managing construction funds for NROs, and assisting management with various projects and tasks as needed. They must also update debt schedules.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required. At least 5 years of professional accounting experience is needed, with a preference for experience in Fixed Asset accounting. Experience using Sage Intacct is preferred but not required.
  • Job Specifications: The ideal candidate is able to work independently with minimal direction, has excellent time management skills to meet deadlines, and possesses a strong working knowledge of general accounting concepts and GAAP. They must be self-directed, results-driven, able to multitask, and maintain confidentiality. The role requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Physical Demands:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to restaurant locations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry materials for meetings or events.
