Overview

M&J Engineering, D.P.C. is hiring a Certified Industrial Hygienist. This is an exciting opportunity to join our collaborative team of experienced engineers, architects, scientists and other professionals.

 

M&J Engineering, P.C. (M&J) is a leader in construction management and inspection, civil, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel, airport, port, marine/coastal, and environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations. Summary/Objective

 

This CIH will lead a collaborative team that supports our construction consulting services for a wide range of governmental and commercial clients. The work requires a professional knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of risk assessment, exposure assessment, industrial hygiene/exposure science, occupational safety, and a desire to apply multi-disciplinary approaches (e.g., chemistry, biological sciences, epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health) to research projects involving potential effects from exposure to different materials, chemicals, or biological agents.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply professional environmental science competence with specialized knowledge of chemistry, industrial hygiene and biological science. Perform as a team member to resolve client EH&S concerns as necessary and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Carry out relevant research, development, and planning to complete comprehensive reports for client contractual requirements.
  • Collaborating with team members.
  • Maintain and develop excellent client relationships.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • M.S. or M.P.H. preferred in Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field is required.
  • Knowledge, training, or education in exposure assessment, risk assessment, toxicology, epidemiology, chemistry, and/or biostatistics preferred.
  • Experience working in the field assessing exposures and health and safety hazards in the workplace.
  • Experience in conducting retrospective exposure assessments and familiar with EPA/NIOSH/OSHA risk assessment methodology.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills to identify defects or non-conformities.
  • NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector License
  • NYSDOL Mold Assessor
  • EPA Risk Assessor
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OHST/CIH/ASP/CSP/GIT
  • NYCDEP Investigator
  • 40-hr HAZWOPER/ 30-Hour OSHA Construction certification
