Job Title: Instructional Coach – Special Education
Reports To: Director of Special Education or Department Lead


About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Instructional Coach to support special education teachers and paraprofessionals, helping them improve instructional practices and student outcomes. You’ll provide coaching, mentoring, and training, guide IEP implementation, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, all while fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment.


What You’ll Do:

  • Train and mentor special education teachers and paraprofessionals on instructional best practices, accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction (SDI)

  • Observe classrooms, provide actionable feedback, and model lessons for staff

  • Assist teachers with lesson planning, pacing, differentiated instruction, and curriculum strategies

  • Support data collection, progress monitoring, and IEP completion

  • Develop coaching plans and monitor staff growth through performance evaluations

  • Facilitate Professional Learning Committee (PLC) and department meetings

  • Ensure compliance reporting, audit preparation, and scheduling of assessments

  • Serve as a liaison between staff, coordinators, and directors


What We’re Looking For:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field

  • Current teaching certificate with special education endorsement; School Administrator or Central Office Certification preferred

  • Minimum three years of special education experience and at least two years of coaching, training, or supervisory experience

  • Advanced knowledge of K-12 special education requirements

  • Strong communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to manage time effectively and build strong working relationships

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily computer-based work; travel to school sites required

  • Stand, walk, and sit when coaching and instructing staff

  • Work in varied school environments, which may include temperature variations, stairs, or exposure to cleaning agents, foods, or illness
