Nuclear Medicine Technologists are entrusted to apply their education in the art of imaging the human body with radionuclides with the intent of providing excellent diagnostic images for the treatment of injury and disease.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program or Nuclear Medicine Program
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Registered or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
  • NM State Certification for Radiologic Technology
  • BLS certification
  • Physical demands: lifting a minimum of fifty (50) pounds

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures at a professional and technical level not requiring constant supervision utilizing industry standards.
  • Ascertains that DNV standards and specialty recommendations are met for the Nuclear Medicine department.
  • Understand the transfer and viewing of images through the P.A.C.S. system.
  • Understand the ordering system through the R.I.S. (Radiology Information System).
  • Understand usage of EMR and order processing.
  • Understand usage of nighthawk Radiology offsite radiologist image transfer.
  • Coordinate Nuclear Medicine exams with radiologist or related physicians as needed.
  • Maintain, clean, and re-stock procedure rooms when needed.
  • Transportation of patients as needed.
  • Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs. Attends meetings, workshops, and conventions to increase clinical skills.
  • Adheres to SJRMC dress code.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all hospital matters (i.e., HIPAA)
  • Provide professional communication with staff and patients.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner consistent with the values of San Juan Regional Medical Center.
  • Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:

  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:

  • Exposure to radiation hazards through radiology procedures.
  • Exposure to body fluids through direct contact, IV procedures, infection and/or contagious diseases.
  • Must be physically able to lift move, push, or pull patients.
  • Provide multiple and directional guidance during procedures to patients with care and compassion.
  • Interaction with potential verbally abusive patients.
