Unit Description
Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, owned and operated by Delaware North, features more than 1,500 video gaming machines and brings the thrill of live thoroughbred racing from April to November and year-round simulcast wagering on thoroughbred and harness racing from across the country. Finger Lakes presents various dining options including a large buffet.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all security team members across the operation
- Ensure the safety of our team members, guests, and licensees by monitoring and correcting potential accidents or injuries
- Adhere to and enforce rules and regulations of the state gaming commission.
- Ensure emergency medical service (EMS) associates obtain the appropriate medical permits in line with state protocol
- Follow company, local, state, and federal compliance in reference to hiring and mandatory training of all security team members
- Hire, train, supervise, and develop your team
- Produce departmental budgets, policies, and procedures
- Learn and maintain a working knowledge of the union contract as it pertains to the positions in the Security Department
- Partner with the head of security for Delaware North regularly and when major security issues arise
- Comply with confidentiality regulations regarding all surveillance and security information including camera coverage, investigations, and proprietary material
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints and issues
- Demonstrates skill in dealing with customer complaints, using active listening skills to defuse difficult and sometimes emotionally charged situations to maintain the customer's goodwill
- Responsible for the eviction of unruly patrons or associates as required
- Effectively communicates by keeping staff advised of daily events, and all company and departmental change
- Will be required to occassionally operate a company vehicle
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum five years' related experience or law enforcement experience; at least two years of management experience required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a state gaming license
- Intermediate computer skills with Windows platform, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, e-mail, and the Internet
- Good verbal and written skills
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends
- Must have knowledge of litigation and law enforcement procedures
- Must possess a valid state driver's license
- No degree required
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs occasionally
- Exposed to outdoor weather conditions in all seasons, including variable temperatures and wet and/or humid conditions
- Noise level may be moderate-to-high
