  • The Set-Up Operator 2 for Four Slide is responsible for developing and implementing documentation and procedures to improve quality and efficiency in production.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in setting up, troubleshooting, and operating Multi-Slide/Four Slide/Verti-Slide machines, particularly NIELSON models.
  • The position requires the ability to read blueprints and a working knowledge of statistical process control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Primary Position Objectives

To effectively develop and implement documentation, procedures, systems, programs and tools for the purpose of making continuous improvements to the quality, cost, and lead-time of goods and services provided to the customers of the company.


Position Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities

  • Set-up and maintenance of production tooling including but not limited to first piece quality submission.
  • Set-up, adjust & operate Fourslide machines (NIELSON V81, V82, 700L, FS1 S3Reg etc. experience required).
  • Set-up, adjust & operate NC BIHLER Four slide machines (experience preferred) or ability/willingness to learn.
  • Alert supervisor when there is a conflict in scheduling, machine maintenance and or tool maintenance on production tooling.
  • Minor repairs & adjustments to machine tools & equipment as required to support production demands.
  • Assist in the standardization of machine component inventory. Cams, tool holders, cut-off components.
  • Assist as requested in the development of project/tool estimates (quotes).
  • Assist department tool & die makers with trouble shooting and analysis.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Lean, 6s and SDWT projects.
  • Assist company managers as requested on all metal stamping and four slide programs. 
  • Alert supervisor on updates and corrections needed on job travelers for operation changes/additions.
  • Change material (spools, coils etc.)
  • Operate Machines as needed.

  • Maintains adherence to company policies, environmental and safety standards as well as good housekeeping practices.
  • Observes Company processes and makes recommendations for improvement
  • May be required to assist or otherwise instruct other personnel.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications


Education

Experience

  • High School, Trade School graduate or demonstrated equivalent skills
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in set-up, trouble shooting, and production operation of Multi-Slide/Four slide/Verti-Slide machines
  • Ability to read-understand blueprints as needed for production manufacturing.
  • Ability to Set-up, adjust & operate Fourslide machines (V81 & V82)
    • Working knowledge and practical experience with the use of statistical process control in a production environment.
    • An understanding of manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, lean manufacturing and its components (i.e. Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, 6S, etc.)
    • Familiar with principles of concurrent engineering and design for manufacturing and assembly.
    • Experience with production standards, cost of quality and manufacturing methods.
    • Detail and task driven work ethic.
    • Ability to work OT as required to meet Company needs.
    • Forklift Certify

Physical Requirements

  • Visual ability (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
  • Ability to lift objects from lower to a higher position or moving horizontally from 
  • position-to-position.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. unassisted.
