Description: (Including but not limited to)

Rotor winders are familiar with all aspects of generator rotor repairs, including, disassembly, reassembly, testing, winding and mechanical inspections.

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Performs all required electrical testing of generator rotors
  • Performs all required mechanical measurements of generator rotors
  • Performs disassembly and assembly of generator rotors
  • Performs generator rotor stripping and winding operations
  • Performs electrical testing and mechanical inspections of exciter component

Work Qualifications:

Required:

  • Experience with overhead crane operation
  • Experience with forklift operation
  • Experience with micrometers, dial indicators and dial/digital calipers for mechanical inspections
  • Experience with hipots, meggers, and borescopes 
  • Familiar with rotor winding processes
  • Familiar with electrical theory
  • Experience with dial indicator operation
  • Must adhere to all APG Safety and Quality procedures and processes

Educational Requirements:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Basic electricity and electronics training is a plus

OSHA 30 training is a plus

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the role.
  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time or until the end of the assigned shift.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. safely and properly, as needed throughout the assigned shift with or without assistance.

Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, reach above shoulder height, crouch, balance, and push/pull.
