Custom High-Craft Carpenter

New Energy Works is seeking an experienced carpenter to join our team in Farmington, NY where we design, fabricate, and install high-performance panelized wall, roof, and floor systems for custom homes and commercial buildings throughout the Northeast.

We're looking for someone who already knows their way around a jobsite and a woodshop—but more importantly, someone who takes pride in their work, shows initiative, and is constantly looking for ways to improve the team and the project. If you're the type of person, we'd like to talk with you!

What You'll Do

• Craft high-performance wall, roof, and floor panels in our Farmington NY factory.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and semi-automated production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Read and interpret fabrication and installation drawings.
• Participate in field installation of the panels you helped fabricate.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and fellow craftspeople to solve problems and deliver exceptional work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of carpentry or construction experience.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in craftsmanship.
• Solid math, layout, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using standard carpentry tools and equipment.
• Valid NYS driver's license and clean driving record.

The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, and driven to perform at a high level every day. We value attitude, initiative, and accountability as much as technical skill.

• Custom home building.
• High-performance home building.
• Passive House construction.
• Panelized or offsite construction.
• Building envelope and air-sealing systems.
• Advanced wood construction methods.

Schedule & Travel

We typically work four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, with Fridays often available for overtime.

This position includes both shop fabrication and field installation work. Most projects are located within a 4–6-hour drive radius of Farmington, NY, so availability to travel is preferred. We do offer a generous travel compensation incentive for out-of-town installation work.
