General Responsibilities:
āž¢Schedule and complete general maintenance and repair of all program sites, facilities, equipment, vehicles and grounds.
āž¢Assist in ensuring agency facilities are safe, functional, clean, and compliant with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
āž¢Support preventive maintenance activities for agency facilities, equipment, vehicles, and grounds.
āž¢Serve as a resource to agency staff regarding facility-related concerns and assist in identifying practical solutions.
āž¢Assist with monitoring contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure work is completed according to established standards.
āž¢Maintain positive working relationships with agency staff, tenants, vendors, contractors, and community partners.
āž¢Protect the privacy of employees and customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.
āž¢Assist with maintaining agency facilities in a manner that promotes a safe and professional environment for staff, customers, and visitors.
Specific Duties:
āž¢Complete building repairs and maintenance (i.e. replacing ceiling tiles, repairing light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, equipment, doors, locks, and other facility systems).
āž¢Coordinate with building liaisons to ensure facilities, including indoor and outdoor spaces, are maintained in a safe and functional condition.
āž¢Conduct routine inspections of facilities and identify maintenance, safety, custodial, and operational concerns requiring corrective action.
āž¢Confirm that all playgrounds meet national and state safety guidelines.
āž¢Complete routine checks and maintenance of heating and cooling systems (i.e. changing furnace filters, cleaning air conditioning units, etc.).
āž¢Assist with the maintenance and inspection of various water wells to meet EPA and State regulations.
āž¢Complete playground preventive maintenance on a regular basis.
āž¢Maintain inventory of maintenance, repair, custodial, and facility supplies and submit requests for replenishment as needed.
āž¢Assist with agency-wide sanitation and disinfection efforts in accordance with agency, state, and federal health and safety standards.
āž¢Remove the Garbage from the breakroom and bathrooms daily, and all other areas including the conference rooms two times a week.
āž¢Clean the break room two times a week, and refill break room supplies daily.
āž¢Perform routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of agency facilities to ensure a clean, safe, and professional environment.
āž¢Occasionally help the Food Warehouse or Weatherization Division to complete their various jobs.
āž¢Responsible for opening and securing the Administrative Building in accordance with established agency procedures, including unlocking and locking the facility as assigned.
āž¢Maintain and organize agency building key inventory and assist with building access control procedures.
āž¢Assist with training senior workers, volunteers, and temporary staff on facility-related procedures and safety practices.
āž¢Assist with set up of meetings, conferences, trainings, events, and other agency functions.
āž¢Occasionally assist other agency departments in completing various facility-related projects and operational needs.
āž¢Oversee work performed by contractors to ensure conformance to established specifications.
āž¢Participate in personal and professional development activities.
āž¢Participate in various Agency committees.
āž¢Perform other duties as assigned.
āž¢Teach, test, and certify various workers in the safe operation of forklifts.
āž¢Oversee senior workers and other volunteers that work on the facilities team.


Education and Experience Qualifications:
āž¢Minimum of a high school diploma, or equivalent, and a minimum of one years’ experience in building and grounds maintenance preferred.
āž¢Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance, preventive maintenance practices, facility systems, and basic repair techniques.


Additional Requirements:
āž¢Must have proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet).
āž¢Demonstrated effective communication skills (both oral and written).
āž¢Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
āž¢Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and provide proof of insurance.
āž¢Pass State Police Criminal Clearance Check, MMCAA’s ā€œInsurance Carriersā€ driving record review and DHHS Child Abuse/Neglect clearance annually.
āž¢Physically able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds on a daily basis.
āž¢Ability to work on roofs, get on and off ladders, and enter confined spaces, (such as crawl spaces).
āž¢Ability to work in all types of environmental conditions. Including but not limited to: subzero cold, heat, rain, dust, etc.
āž¢Receive and maintain First Aid/CPR certifications.
āž¢Receive and maintain State of Michigan Water Well Operator Level 5 certification.
āž¢Must be self-directed and able to prioritize and schedule their own workload and tasks with little supervision.
āž¢Be willing to accept new challenges on a daily basis.
