GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
As Audiovisual Suite Coordinator, you help create an experience that makes our community say, "I love Fayetteville Public Library!" You share your technical and product knowledge with customers and other staff, contributing to the overall success of the Library. You relate easily to others, building rapport and collaborative relationships with both the staff and customers. You have a passion for what you do and enrich the customer's experience by using your knowledge to determine the customer's needs and exceed their expectations. You are comfortable in a changing environment, with multitasking, and with learning new systems and procedures.
As Audiovisual Suite Coordinator, you are responsible for acting as the lead audio and video expert in the Center for Innovation. You provide assistance and exemplary customer service to visitors in the Center for Innovation. You ensure that the AV Suites (Audio Recording Studio, Video Studio, Photography Studio, Podcast Booth, and Edit Suite) are fully functional, current, and optimally scheduled for community use of audio/video recording and editing activities. You will act as the point person in training and troubleshooting for these activities. As Audiovisual Suite Coordinator, you should be familiar with audio visual industry standards as set by ANSI/InfoComm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proactively greet and establish rapport with patrons, enthusiastically engaging them in conversations about all of our materials and services. Provide exemplary customer service in-person at service desks and at all locations throughout the library. Answer directional and general questions about library programs and services and refer callers and visitors to the appropriate staff member or service desk. Staff Center for Innovation suites and desk as needed.
- Effectively communicate to patrons regarding a variety of topics including, but not limited to, library products and services, policies, responsibilities, and code of conduct. Blend creativity, problem solving, and decision making to positively impact the customer experience, de-escalate any negative situations and resolve customer questions and concerns.
- Ask open ended questions to assess, understand, and ascertain customer needs, determine how to tailor your approach, and provide recommendations using your institutional knowledge to connect our customer with the right solution. This includes both routine and complex patron inquiries.
- Oversee operations of the Audiovisual Suites (Audio Studio, Voice Isolation Booth, Video Studio, Photo Studio, Editing Suite) including the development and regular review of usage and access policies in collaboration with the AV Manager and CFI Makerspace Manager.
- Coordinate and schedule use of the Audiovisual Suites including certifying patron success in required suite orientation operations programs. Setup and operate AV equipment such as soundboard/mixer, mics, speakers, etc. Conduct orientation operations programs for Audiovisual Suites. Give Center for Innovation tours upon request. Provide technical support to Center for Innovation patrons and visitors.
- Ensure that the Audiovisual Suites equipment (hardware, software, instruments, etc.) is in proper working order and report any equipment needing repair or service. Develop and execute schedule for cleaning and preventative maintenance for audio visual equipment in the Center for Innovation. Keep all equipment in like new condition. Recommend requirements for new or additional equipment to enhance training opportunities for the Audiovisual Suites and Center for Innovation as a whole.
- Design and teach relevant programs in audio and video production, recording, editing, and other technologies for all age ranges. Speak, instruct and/or perform in front of library and outreach audiences (frequently up to 750+ participants).
- Management of audiovisual checkout equipment to patrons for use in the Center's suites.
- Recommend potential programming and respond to requests from other library departments regarding opening access to services offered in the Audiovisual Suites.
- Participate in meetings and activities of the department and the library. Assist with library services, programs, events, and outreach opportunities as needed.
- Attend and participate in weekly IT, AV and CFI meetings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety equipment and procedures. Carry out job responsibilities in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury to yourself, other staff, vendors, customers, and the Library.
- Undergo annual refresher trainings on safety topics including but not limited to safely working on overhead lighting fixtures, working with power, laying cables and ergonomics. Trainings will be based on standards laid out by AVIXA, Event Safety Alliance (ESA), or another industry recognized standards organization. Communicate any safety concerns to AV management in a timely manner.
- Maintain all equipment in like new condition.
- Pursue professional development to keep informed of current and emerging library trends, particularly as related to emerging technology, technology training, and library trends. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through attendance of educational workshops, seminars, and webinars, review of professional publications, establishment of networks, and participation in professional organizations. Attain relevant certifications such as ProTools and Adobe Certifications.
- Collaborate with supervisor on departmental projects to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
- Represent your department on various library committees as assigned.
- Exhibit effective communication skills by keeping AV management apprised of requests from internal and external clients; by reporting any technical, event, client or patron issues to management in a timely manner; by responding in a timely manner to internal and external communications; and by keeping management apprised of progress on goals and projects. Discuss any operational changes to AVL systems with AV management prior to implementation.
- Assist the AV production team with events as needed.
- Help orient new staff, ensuring a smooth acclimation to the library and our culture. Train new staff members as assigned. Scheduling responsibilities as assigned. Mentor and train Audio Suite volunteers.
- Display excellent time management skills, attention to detail, problem solving skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work proactively to balance multiple tasks and prioritize work. Complete work at an appropriate pace with a sense of urgency.
- Assume personal responsibility for building maintenance and solving minor issues and problems.
- Protect library assets and ensure building security adhering to library policies and following appropriate closing procedure. Learn and carry out emergency procedures. Provide leadership in response to emergency situations.
- Understand and follow Library policies and procedures for requesting and using sick leave and PTO.
- Conduct special projects as assigned.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience
- Knowledge of specialized field equivalent to four years of high school, plus specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3-5 years of Live Audio experience required.
- High language skills including ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Basic math skills including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- High reasoning skills including the ability to solve practical problems and deal with several variables where only limited standardization exists and the ability to communicate this information.
- High computer skills including experience with Microsoft and Apple operating systems, office productivity software and ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts.
- Working knowledge and experience with multichannel audio formats such as AES50, Dante, and MADI
- Familiarity with analog and digital audio consoles including X32 and dLive.
- Working knowledge of multitrack audio recording programs such as ProTools, Audition, Logic, Ableton.
- Excellent customer service skills including the ability to resolve difficult customer situations.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as assigned that includes evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts is required.

- Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to learn and carry out emergency procedures.
- 1-3 years Postproduction experience a plus.
- Audiovisual/ Convention Center/ Hotel/ Arena/ Large Venue/ Broadcast experience is a plus.
- Multilingual skills a plus.
