This position is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and analysis-ready data environments that integrate wearable sensor, biometric, assessment, operational, and medical data. The Data Engineer will serve as the technical backbone of the analytics environment by developing reliable ingestion pipelines, curated datasets, and governed data products that enable evidence-based decision making for Special Operations Forces (SOF). This role directly supports the delivery of trusted metrics, dashboards, reporting, and advanced analytics supporting warfighter readiness and force health initiatives. Must be a U.S. Citizen Must have an active Secret clearance   Responsibilities: Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines supporting ingestion and transformation of structured and semi-structured data from wearable sensors, DHA medical systems, assessments, and operational data sources. Design, develop, and maintain Lakehouse or warehouse architecture, including raw, validated, and curated data layers. Develop reusable datasets, feature tables, and standardized semantic definitions supporting consistent reporting and analytics. Implement automated monitoring, validation, exception handling, reconciliation, and data quality controls to improve pipeline reliability and data trustworthiness. Optimize datasets and data structures to support dashboards, longitudinal analysis, metric development, and reproducible analytic workflows. Document source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, metadata, business rules, and pipeline dependencies. Apply security, governance, and access control measures appropriate for sensitive health, biometric, and operational data. Collaborate with Data Scientists, Sensor Integrators, and operational stakeholders to refine data requirements and collection standards. Support integration of APIs, enterprise systems, files, wearable technologies, and operational data platforms. Maintain code repositories, engineering documentation, and configuration management processes using sound software engineering practices. QualificationsRequired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline. Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or cloud-based analytics environments. Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark. Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark-based processing, Delta Lake, or equivalent big data technologies. Experience designing and orchestrating ETL/ELT pipelines in cloud or enterprise data environments. Knowledge of data modeling, metadata management, lineage, data quality management, and governed access to curated data products. Experience integrating data from APIs, enterprise systems, files, and structured/semi-structured data sources. Experience with DHA or military medical data, Azure data services, FHIR/HL7, longitudinal time-series data, or event-based performance datasets.
