BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB:  The Family Intervention Specialist (FIS) provides intensive in-home services, using the evidence-based program, Family Centered Treatment, to help families prevent out of home placement through medical, legal and social systems.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Direct Clinical Service Delivery

  • Conducts family and individual FCT sessions, as clinically appropriate, in clients’ own homes and other settings when convenient for the family, spending a minimum of 4 hours per week and 2-3 weekly contacts with clients in compliance with expected FCT fidelity.
  • Deliver FCT endorsed experiential interventions designed to develop skills in both parents and children to address their area of family functioning.
  • Provides services unique to each family that promote the achievement of safety, permanency, and well-being for the children, including evidence-based and trauma-informed in-home services.
  • Engage all key family members and help families develop a support network in their natural environment.
  • Provide youth and families with necessary transportation and help them plan for long-term transportation needs.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to meet family availability (including evenings/weekends as needed)

Assessment & Treatment Planning

  • Conducts initial and on-going assessments that are strengths based and individualized to be incorporated in treatment plans.
  • Include the family in individualized treatment plans that are updated monthly at a minimum, to reflect the goals of the family and child and focus on empowerment and increasing parent accountability.

Caseload & Intensity Management

  • Process external referrals with families to meet any needs identified through treatment.
  • Manage scheduling and adjust intensity with individuals and families as needed, to ensure consistent service delivery

Model Fidelity & Certification Requirements

  • Complete all requirements to be certified in the FCT model within 9 months of the first case assignment date.
  • Utilize the FCT model to provide Intensive In-Home services in DCFS/DYS and Arkansas Passe cases, adhering to and ensuring fidelity to the FCT model.

Clinical Quality, Outcomes & Documentation

  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner, including strict adherence to the timeline for FCT fidelity documents, family plan and completing progress notes within a 48-hour timeframe (2-days, not business days). Per FCT fidelity, when possible complete progress notes and family plans with the family in session.

Crisis Intervention & Risk Management

  • Protects and upholds clients’ rights at all times.
  • Report unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels as outlined in SFM training.
  • Follow all safety procedures as outlined in SFM training.
  • Assess and respond to crisis situations including safety planning, deescalation coordination with emergency services when necessary [24/7].
  • Maintain awareness of safety risks within the home and community

Staff Clinical Development and Supports

  • Actively participate in clinical supervision and weekly team meetings, according to FCT fidelity, in order to staff cases effectively and create a high level of individual and team accountability.
  • Attend training, support opportunities and/or coaching sessions for ongoing development, as required.

Collaboration & Community Coordination

  • Collaborate with community partners, schools, courts, and other service providers to coordinate care and support family goals.

Organizational Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with agency policies, state regulations, and FCT model requirements.
Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred for daily communication with Spanish-speaking clients and community members.
  • Bachelor's Degree (required) in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field as determined by DHS and at least one year experience working with other families.
  • Master's Degree (preferred) in social work, couseling, psychology, or related field as determned by DHS.
  • At least one year of experience working with children and families.
  • At least two years of office experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Complete an Arkansas State Police Criminal Background Check, Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check and as applicable, an FBI and Central Registry check of other states they have resided.
  • FBI Fingerprint check if relocated to Arkansas in the last five years.
  • Must have a valid drivers license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Lifiting requirements of 30-50 lbs.
